That RC car looks really cool. Is it moddeled on an actual car, or is it a no-name brand?

How did the race go?

Wow, that is really cool. I am a WII fan and big time sailor also. Currently I sail laser & Cal 20, but have been known to go out on Mumm 30 and Melges 24. Were is this boat located? Will it be raced at all, or just cruised?

Good luck with it .....

I'm a little reluctant to commit Wii-rape, but if they don't announce an Australian release date for Paper Mario soon, my principles may become slightly more flexible.

An interesting series of articles.

Wow, that mod's cool.

We have a Wii and I rock at Tiger Woods Golf. My parents are addicted to Wii Sports, and we even had my fiance's great grandpa (92) playing Wii Sports Golf. You should try the Madden 07 on it if you haven't already. It's a hoot!

Cool entry. I was surprised you didnt address the up and coming photynthetic capabilities of Biofuel producing algae though. Potentially we'll be able to keep our food and still have fuels to power our clunky old cars. You give the impression that biofuel production from agriculture is just a temporary thing.

You do make a good point about the electric cars being powered by power stations though.

Nicely done. I feel smarterer.

I have such different prerequisites for a phone. My number one pre-requisite is that it has good battery life. I'm the kind of person who just leaves his phone in his pants until the next time i wear them. Even if it means the battery runs out, which is why battery life is important. If I can find a phone that will sit happily for a week without being taken out of my pocket - then I'm happy.

I only use my phone a couple times a week to send a message to dad or the ever so eloquent "Lunch?" so I have no need for functions... I just remember the rest of my llife in my head. THough I am kinda envious of the whole camera thing. But probably best I did not get in to it or I might be compelled to take pictures.

In the future my pre-req will be water proofness. So I can wash my pants without taking the phone out. If there are any such phones on the market feel free to review them!

That could just be the best way to gain fuel since siphoning and drive-offs were thought of.
I really hope the industry begins releasing alternate powered vehicles (electric, biofuels, even grease from the fish and chip shop) soon. Some of these technologies are not new, and no doubt many a daily motorist would concede the ability to travel over 100km/h for a $1 per week electricity usage or whatever other cheap shit.

It rocks, . . . both stylistically and aesthetically

I like it. I agree that it needed changing. It has a simple appeal to it. Just plain likeable. Likable? How the hell do you spell that...

My only hope that the "Scary Door" doesn't just become a cosmetic shell much like Arnie's blogs that changes as often as a baby burps; but rather a theme which deeply permeate the contents of this page stylistically and aesthetically.

Has anyone ever been prosecuted for simply recording off their television? Or ripping music from CDs to iPods?

Profit making off others' works is duly and fairly prosecutable, but really does the Govt really anticipate anyone will watch their TV shows once?

You know what... I think your right.

I had a chance to look at a M400 in the city today- a sexy dual core version. It was a lot smaller than the other tablet pcs I have seen which now I assume must have had 15" or bigger screens.

Only problem is that from my wholesaler the dual core M400 is over $3000 and the single corse is slightly over $2800 which is just miles out of my price range.

Having said that... I think the UMPC might still be the go. The toshiba M400 would do way more than I need to do on the road. It overlaps my home computer way too much. Although, if anyone has a second hand M200 that they are looking to trade for a few things I have laying around then please contact me.

Still, no UMPCs on the market just yet and my ASUS distributor didnt even know what a UMPC was.

I have a tablet PC, a Toshiba M200, and it is freaking awesome. I use it to take notes at uni (including diagrams) and I can use it to type or scribble, whichever takes my fancy.

Then I come home and stick it in my docking station and I'm using my regular size keyboard, mouse and 21" screen, it's a terrific full-powered desktop.

I think you may find these UMPCs too small for a lot of what you want to do.

Wow. That's a really cool design. You really should have submitted it.

I'm not sure whether they want the uni of adelaide logo though (instead they may want the auu one).

I suppose it may not be alternative enough. Damn union types, can't see chic (or in Mrs. Reynold sense, trippy-ness) if it slams them in the face.

I found during my brief experiment that I could ride to town in 25 minutes, at a cost of $0. Damn hills.

I agree, I've been hit by a car while riding my bike, and I was wearing a helmet. Somehow I don't think it would have been cool having my brains spread over the road. Although, at the other end of the spectrum, those little kids who go downhilling, it seems that the more safety gear they wear, the cooler they are. We are talking motocross helmets, ski goggles, gloves, body armour, elbow and knee pads, shin guards and arm guards. Perhaps it says "Hey, I'm really, really fast so if I come off, I'm gonna need all this protection cause I'm living on the edge. Puff."

Apparently 64WPM at an accuracy of 92%. That's fast enough for me, although it could be more accurate. By the way, is anyone else's keyboard starting to lose the "A" and "S" prints on the keys?

That's a thorough and informative article there. It's a real shame that laptops aren't good gaming machines. Organising proper computer workstations into a room for LANs is too time and effort consuming.

I find the best way to buy a laptop is to go into the shop wearing plastic pants.

I like plastic pants - everybody likes plastic pants - Mark likes Doug's plastic pants.

I've seen some impressive things done with duct tape over the years. I've seen a jacket made from duct tape, a car with its interior made from duct tape (ie- seats and stuff), heck i've even been duct taped to a bin before, but I gotta say, thats impressive. How do you have time to make something like that with VACA on sat?

Not quite the same: Arnie was pedantic but correct, I'm just ignorant.

I should have asked before I had my little rant.

Now that I know what you're talking about, I don't disagree with you. That's certainly something that could happen.

I'm considering taking you up on this, just because nothing ever changes that fast. By saying that 'optical media will be phased out', do you mean that broadcast media (ie. TV, radio and newspapers) will be essentially gone by 2015?

If you do, then I'm taking that bet. There's not even 100% internet penetration (in any form) in the community, let alone dial-up. In fact, I'm willing to bet that the household PC penetration is significantly less than the TV penetration. If you take away people's broadcast media and tell them to go and buy fast braodband and download their shows, I don't think they'll be too happy.

Well, you could give 50 cents, but using the wonders of Financial Economics, you really should give him more.

Australia's Inflation Rate (10y average): 2.89%
Years to Maturity: 10 Years
Dollar Value: 10 Dollars

     $ 10
--------------
(1+0.0289) ^10

     $ 10
--------------
  1.32963265

= $7.52

So, technically, if you want to adjust for inflation to give him 2015 money, you should give him $7.52 now.

Alternatively, you could just not take him up on the bet, because it looks like it will happen.

Is that $10 in 2005 money, or $10 in 2015 money. I'd happily bet $10 of 2005 money payable in 2015. In fact, I'll give you the 50 cents now...
